Gallomanor have been producing ‘I’m a Councillor, Get me out of Here!’ for eight years, and launched I’m a Scientist in 2008. We provide creative audience-led communication solutions and events to local government and other organisations. We are driven by a desire to increase citizens involvement in civil society with effective, innovative, and fun projects.

Sophia Collins
Producer
Sophia is an ex-television producer of award-winning factual science shows. She has also worked for the Science Museum, and written for science magazines, from The Lancet to Focus. She studied a Masters in science communication at Imperial College on a Wellcome Trust-funded bursary (awarded by the ABSW) and has a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh.
Sophia has also worked on I’m a Councillor, Get me out of Here! for four years and is a qualified TEFL teacher.
Shane McCracken
Executive Producer
Shane is the Director of Gallomanor Communications Ltd, which he set up in 2001. He’s an ex-advertising executive and later television executive, with a degree in business management. Creator of the ‘I’m a Councillor’ format, as well as LifeSwap and the award-winning CampaignCreator.
Rosie Schultz
Project Executive
Rosie is the newest recruit to the team and is passionate about science engagement and communication. She developed this through volunteering at the @Bristol science centre and at events such as the Bristol Festival of Nature, ‘Discover’ science and Bristol Doors Open. She studied for a Masters in the Science of Natural Hazards at Bristol University after graduating from Durham University with a BSc in Geography.
Mike Little of zed1
Developer
Mike Little, did an amazing job building our new site. It’s an incredibly complex site ‘doing things with WordPress that no-one has ever done before’. Mike is one of the founding developers of the WordPress project, so we knew we were in capable hands. zed1.com is a web development company specializing in WordPress-based web site solutions.
Ian Francis
Educational Consultant
Ian is a well-respected and experienced educationalist and science communicator. He has taught secondary science and physics across the whole age and ability range for the past 15 years, most recently in Hertfordshire. Aside from his ongoing classroom experience, Ian has an MSc in Science Communication from Imperial College, is an examiner for Edexcel, and regular contributor and consultant for Planet Science as well as being a member of the Royal Society’s partnership grants for schools committee. His publishing credits include the Times Educational Supplement, New Scientist and The Lancet.
Kate Pontin
External Evaluator
Kate is an experienced evaluation consultant, specialising in museums and other informal learning environments. She also works as an associate tutor for the University of Leicester’s Museum Studies course.
